The physical connection of partner yoga builds a strong sense of trust whether you are helping your friend through a balance pose or using your body as a prop to discover more advanced stretches. It also promotes a mutually advantageous connection whereby couples learn to rely on one another, both practically and emotionally.

Downward Faced Dog

In a relationship, developing closeness and trust can be challenging. While surprise meals and concerts can spark something, getting to the core of what truly drives your other half calls for in-depth talks impossible over a dinner of spaghetti. Through physical support and discussion, partner yoga gives couples a chance to cooperate towards a shared objective and deepen their relationship. Moreover, the physical demands of a partner sometimes raise self-awareness and tolerance for powerful feelings and sensations. This posture energises the chest and spine while stretching the hamstrings, shoulders, and calves whether performed in the classic Downward Facing Dog or a version emphasising more on the lower body. For a more mild stretch, it can also be done seated forward fold.

To prevent misalignment or injury, be sure you are honest and check in often. Learning partner yoga calls for a great degree of confidence and cooperation that promotes closeness outside of the mat. Even if a position isn't exactly ideal, the common experience of negotiating the complexity of each one fosters empathy and encouragement. This then reflects more significant connections in life.
